We Must Support Our Troops in Iraq Most Americans haven't really changed all that much over the past three years. Going to class, work or keeping up with our own personal lives is what mostly preoccupies our daily existence. The majority of us simply don't have time to contemplate the actions currently being taken on the other side of the world. That's not to say that we haven't been inundated with news, pictures and videos of the bloodshed in Iraq. We know what goes on, but as most of us aren't directly involved in the war, our reactions to the news of the violence have, over time, become indifferent. While the news of free, democratic elections lift our hopes, daily reports of the cost, in lives and dollars, restore our pessimism. The constant shifts in outlook have created near-apathy among Americans. Most are tired of the prolonged war, and are seeking a just solution. The death toll is now at roughly 2,200, and total casualties are estimated to be well over 16,000. Many politicians have tried to capitalize on the war in Iraq in an effort to change our opinion.
